Sustainability

Portovesme S.r.l., leader in Italy for the production of Zinc and Lead, since 1999, has decided to pursue the strategy of continuous improvement in the sustainability of its productions, working on the definition and implementation of the objectives of its business performance of an economic nature. , environmental and social. This is a path that can only be completed through the involvement of the external interested parties (stakeholders). The goal, in fact, is to be able to define a shared path, for the creation of a shared value, which is consolidated as a series of useful benefits, not only for the Company, but also for the Local Communities and the surrounding Territory.

The founding basis of this process of continuous improvement, with a view to sustainable production in environmental, social and economic terms, is the annual drafting of the sustainability report, which from the year 2022 will be issued by Portovesme s.r.l. This passage, of a purely voluntary nature, constitutes a sort of Copernican revolution in the producer / stakeholder relationship, as through the awareness and certification of a state of affairs, in terms of production sustainability, the Company opens up completely to the outside, publicly committing to put in place a management system, based on the continuous improvement of production sustainability conditions and, absolutely new, in active synergy with stakeholders both internal (management, direct and indirect workers), and external (entities public, schools, service providers, customers, NGOs, citizens, etc.). The first step of this process was to identify in a document (the Stakeholder Register) all the stakeholders of the Company.

The project was then publicized by sending all Stakeholders a Brochure and an Information Leaflet, and then administering a Survey to them, to involve them in a process of evaluation, proposition and hierarchical definition of their concerns and interests, related to the impacts. of the Company.
On the basis of the quantity and quality of the responses received, a Materiality Matrix was developed, i.e. a graphic tool that summarizes the analysis conducted, highlighting, by hierarchies of importance, both the point of view of the stakeholders and the point of view Business view.
Through the indications provided by the materiality analysis, thanks to the application of the international GRI standards, we proceeded objectively to report the economic, environmental and social impacts of the Company, in order to publicly issue the Sustainability report, advertising in this way the contribution of the same - be it positive or negative - towards the objectives of sustainable development, from a managerial point of view, marked by continuous improvement.
